So Many memories here!
I was working as young graphic designer for an odd company called VIctor in Scotts Valley CA (We were Sirius before it was bought out by the Victor Calculator company back East). Anyway, I was a very young grahic designer and have vivid memories of my boss inviting me in to see the unveiling of the LISA that Victor just bought to see how it worked. I no sooner saw it taken out of the box before 5 or 6 Engineers started tearing it apart down to the wires and marveling at the sheer elegance and component expense. as quickly as they tore it up they reassembled it without blinking an eye! Victor was maketing it own computer that was proprietary at the time and was heading down hill fast and trying to come up with an IBM compatible Victor..never happened (I designed the brochure for it, but we only had 1 test model that kind of worked ... we soon got exposed by financial analysts shortly after our claims of many in production... such great times, I am proud to be apart of this wonderful gift to graphic designers and type this on my Intel Macbook 25 years later. So much is owed to Steve Jobs and Woz
for bringing light into a dark antiquated graphic world of amberlith, ink, stat cameras and flat art on illustration board. I am glad I was old enough to witnessed first hand this most beautiful Renessiance of our age. Anyone who wants to write back with shared memories would be wonderful, I have so many of them that I would love to share. I'm at graphicbill@mac.com

Hello,
although the video is not longer available, I like to read about Macintosh history. I am a big Fan, I still have my Macintosh classic running smooth.

The price is deceiving. This included all the software also. With the Lisa you had Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Drawing, and Database software right out of the box. Our group bought an IBM XT about the same time and we spent about the same amount on hardware and software and never achieved the same capabilities. We had a great time going to meeting with great handouts with bold fonts and Organizational charts made with the Draw software. The graphics department could not figure out how we created the artwork. Those were the fun days!!!

Absudio,
It means that his spiffy new computer allowed him to come in early and get all his work for the day done. Now he can go home!

The statement at the end about how "soon there'll be just two kinds of people, those who use computers and those who use Apples", more or less came true. Of course we would say "PCs" and "Macintoshs"

Marvelous, brings back a lot of memories about the Lisa. I notice they didn't show it booting up!
Shame the director didn't find out that Kevin Costner is left handed before laying out the desk, he does look uncomfortable using it...

The Lisa was AHEAD of its time. I still have a Lisa 210, which had a megabyte of memory and a 10 MB hard disk. The amazing thing about it was it was multitasking.
I was working for NBC News at the time and we were doing a story on the Macintosh release. John Sculley talked me into buying a Lisa, instead.
It certainly was the best computer of the day.

Macbones,
You're forgetting that PCs of the time cost over $5,000 and required at least that much in consulting fees just to get them to do anything useful.
