Vancouver will only have to wait a little longer for Apple to open their latest Canadian retail store. Set to open their doors in the near future, Apple has updated their job listings page to include positions for the Apple retail store opening shortly in Vancouver’s Pacific Center Shopping Centre.

Apple is currently hiring for Store Manager, Mac Genius, Cashier and Personal Shopping Specialist among other positions. No opening date for the Vancouver store has been announced although it is speculated that Apple will occupy a portion of the vacant space which was previously occupied by Holt Renfrew, before the high end retailer moved to a larger location in Pacific Centre.

Mireth Technology has released version 4.1 of NetShred X, its easy to use internet track eraser that erases internet tracks, such as cache, history and email. Version 4.1 adds support for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), support for Safari 3 and support for most other browsers using the custom browser feature.

“NetShred supports all the major browsers and email programs available on the Mac,” said Donna Johnson, President. “But with the custom browser feature, the user can configure NetShred to erase tracks for almost any browser or email program on OS X.”

NetShred X is easy to use internet track eraser software for Mac OS X that erases files web browsers and email programs leave behind. And like all Mireth Technology products, it was designed to be easy to use. Because internet privacy software can’t be effective if it’s not used, NetShred X was designed to run automatically, without user intervention. And since erasing temporary internet files can take some time, NetShred X was designed to run in the background, so using the software doesn’t interfere with the user’s web browsing. Most importantly, NetShred X is an effective method of permanently deleting internet tracks. This is a cleaner solution than just deleting the files, because it ensures that the data can’t be recovered. This version adds the following features:

• Support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
• Support for more Safari 3
• Added custom browser feature to add support for almost any browser or email program

NetShred X is available for immediate download, or on CD-ROM, starting at $24.95. Registered users can take advantage of special upgrade pricing. Educational pricing and volume discounts are available.

ZappTek has announced the version 2.1 update of iPresent It, their easy to use slideshow-to-iPod utility for Mac OS X. iPresent It allows anyone to easily convert PowerPoint, PDF or Keynote presentations into slideshows that are synced with their iPod. This makes iPresent It particularly suited for doing presentations on the go: never carry a laptop into a presentation again.

Version 2.1 adds the ability to save slideshows to Aperture, in addition to iPhoto and a folder, and fixes a problem with manipulating Keynote under Leopard.

iPresent It 2.1 remains priced at $17.95 USD with free update for existing users. There is a trial version available but the trial version does limit slideshows to the first 6 slides of a presentation.

    Here’s to the crazy ones

Looking around the applications folder in CoverFlow I came across the icon from the application TextEdit.

When you enlarge the icon in CoverFlow view you can see a letter from John Appleseed quoting the text from Apple’s famous “Think Different” advertising campaign.

Has anyone else found any hidden easter eggs in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard?

    TextEdit icon

    Here’s to the crazy ones.
    The misfits.
    The rebels.
    The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
    They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
    Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones,
    We see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think
    they can change the world,
    Are the ones who do.
