Rogers Comfirms Canadian iPhone

Ted Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications Inc. today issued the following statement:
We’re thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year. We can’t tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned.
No further information regarding release dates or pricing plans were announced.

This small blurb which had me optimistic is quickly fading. The fact that since then nothing else has surfaced. I’m starting to believe Rogers is planning an overhaul of their services, and more importantly their fees. I am still getting the $20 a month unlimited data, however, it appears that I will be using it on my iTouch. Perhaps AT&T’s premature announcement regarding their iPhone pricing is playing a part. After all who wouldn’t drive to the States if the pricing two hundred dollars less. Then there’s the new ideology at Apple which appears to be getting soft on the carrier/brick issue.
